Restoration Farmhouse is a tribute to the enduring character and charm of materials from a bygone era, bringing the essence of Indiana’s pastoral and agricultural history into a modern home. This project celebrates the re-use of objects and materials that once formed the backbone of rural life, proving that, beneath layers of dust and dirt, lies a beauty that only time can bestow. The timber frame was sourced locally, and although it initially seemed weathered, the underlying strength and integrity of these vintage timbers were undeniable. Their resilience serves as a powerful reminder of the craftsmanship of the past, preserved and repurposed for a new chapter.
In addition to the timber frame, the homeowners embraced other reclaimed elements, each telling its own story. Tractor seats have been transformed into sturdy, unique chairs; light fixtures have been crafted from vintage canning jars and livestock feeders, casting a warm, nostalgic glow throughout the space. Railings made from rebar add an industrial edge, while reclaimed metal roofing panels serve as distinctive interior accents, bringing rustic charm indoors. These pieces, once tucked away and forgotten, now shine as functional art within the farmhouse, connecting the past to the present.
As each layer of dust was carefully wiped away, the original patina emerged, revealing a timeless beauty and depth that honors Indiana’s rich agricultural legacy. Restoration Farmhouse isn’t just a home—it’s a living history, offering a seamless blend of heritage and modern comfort for today’s lifestyle.
