Westcliffe Moonlight
This 2,464 sq. ft. house design features an open plan combination of kitchen, living, and dining areas in a vaulted living space spanned by queen post timber-frame bents. The great room is highlighted by the lofty, internally-exposed timber frame structure along with a stone fireplace flanked by expansive windows providing far-reaching views. The master bedroom is located in an adjacent vaulted space, and the lower level houses a garage, additional bedrooms, and a walk-out basement. The patios extend indoors to the living spaces which allow for views and circulation to continue without being obstructed from one side of the house to the other. The cottage has a modest use of materials that relate to its rustic, fairy-tale splendor. Its modesty makes the queen post heavy timber truss system stand out in the living space and gives this modest home an element of grandeur.
