Rolling Hills Farm
Rolling Hills Farm is a modern take on an agricultural compound in a vernacular farm setting. The compound is designed with a cluster of three buildings: the main house, garage, and carport pavilion. While each of these buildings take inspiration from the old fashioned barn style construction, the proximity and orientation of the cluster was also designed to mimic a classic farm organization.
The main house was designed with an emphasis on capturing the rising and setting sun throughout the year. Oriented longitudinally on the site allowed for the master bedroom to be directly exposed to the soft winter sunrises while shielding the harsh rays from the summer sun. Contrastingly, the great room, while being surrounded by glazing in three directions, showcases the beautiful sunsets year round over the rolling hills.
